Sometimes I DJ too...

Hi! It's been a while so I figured I should say something. I can't really say much about the new release I'm working on yet, so I thought I might share some of my brain with you. Some of you know that I DJ in Second Life. If you didn't, and you'd like to catch a set, check out my in-world profile for wheres and whens, I'd love to see you. In any event, it's not just as simple a thing as some folks think, so in the interests of public awareness:

Some thoughts on virtual DJing...

It seems that in many, many places on the grid there's always some charlatan banging on about "tip the DJ!", "show some Linden Love to the DJ!" and so on, right? Stupid, stupid people, it's only some geek sat at a keyboard throwing some tunes around, right?

WRONG. Oh so very wrong.

Actually, I totally get how being hectored to tip every five minutes, as happens in some places, can get to be seriously irritating and ruin the mood of a party. So let's assume we're talking about nice parties where you might be reminded a couple or three times in a two hour slot to tip the DJ, deal?

Most of the DJs I know honestly do it for the love of music and entertainment. We really want you folks to have fun when you come to our sets, it makes our souls happy! Again, the majority of DJs I know put significant work into crafting a set of tunes for you to listen to - we balance the theme of the party with what's generally popular with the crowd, and also with our own particular "style". It's really not just a random bunch of noise tossed online, I promise.

Yes, there are DJs who just show up and toss a random selection of songs onto the stream, but even those ones are fully deserving of your linden love. Why? Well, that's kind of the point of this post.

You see, virtual DJs almost never finish a set in "profit". Virtual DJs certainly do not do it for the money. That said, every single tip from you is hugely appreciated. None of us is ever going to get rich DJing, but your tip really helps us start to offset the costs.

Costs? Yes, it costs actual, real world money to DJ in the virtual world.

Let's look at some specifics:

DJ Software... without this, the tunes never make it to the stream. Average cost around 200 US Dollars.
A Stream... without this, the tunes are not broadcast and no-one can listen. Average cost around 100 US Dollars per annum.
The music... not a lot of point in DJing without tunes, now is there? Let's assume an average of 70 cents per track, and a modest library of 10,000 tracks. that's 7,000 US Dollars right there.

Now, in an average set in, say, Second Life, a DJ can expect that a party goer will tip 100L$ per set.
Not every person at the party will tip.
A party in Second Life is considered a roaring success if 30 people show up.
Let's assume half of the folks at the party will tip... so, 15 times 100 is 1500L$, or 6.20 US Dollars.

Wow, this is not stacking up at all well, is it?

We also forgot something... it takes TIME to prepare a set.

Let's assume a set is going to be 2 hours long. It will take roughly that long to choose, and check, enough tracks to fill a 2 hour slot. So, we're looking at a minimum of 4 hours work to create the entertainment that wins the DJ a stunning 6.20 US Dollars.  That's 1.55 US Dollars per hour. Liveable wage? Hardly!

Even if we amortise costs over time, you need to have DJed for a frightening 2,580 hours to get back costs. Or a solid, non-stop 107 days. Or if we're talking about 2 hour slots, 1290 of them. At a moderate 2 slots per week, that's 645 weeks of DJing. Long time, huh?

So, you think DJing is about the money still? Believe me, it really is not. So, next time someone at a party says "show some linden love to the DJ", dip your hand into your pocket and shell out 100L$, would you? It's only 41 cents, and will help the DJ leave a little less broke than necessary. Let's be honest, you spent more than that on a snack the last time you went outside, didn't you?

We really, honestly, do this DJing thing out of a love of music and entertaining people, help us to spend a little less on it?

Thanks, Eve :)

Hunt Stress!!

Has all that Femdom Hunting got you strung out and tired? Take a little stroll to my store and have a rest on my new special offer... the ZEN HAMMOCK.

The Femdom Hunt V is still going, you have until Sunday to get through the 60 odd locations and snag yourself some excellent gifts. Hurry! There are some truly great places to discover and fabby gifts to find (yes, of course there's an Evelock one!).

To help you with relaxing afterwards I created the Zen Hammock and have made it an in-world ONLY, special price for the first 25 copies.

You get three variants in the box. A wearable hammock, just ADD it to your outfit and relax anywhere at all (you may need to turn your AO off), a rezzable hammock that is perfectly still, and a rezzable hammock that hovers gently up and down.

Both rezzable hammocks feature the same 18 solo animations, and 9 snuggle animations, while the wearable has only one animation.

So, there you have it, lots of goodies to find AND a lovely new special offer to grab. Be quick though, after the 25 have gone for L$25, it will be released at full price (L$200). Don't miss out! I do hope all your lives are treating you well,

Gosh, it's been a while, better have a new release then!

Hello! Isn't it mad how quickly time just up and disappears when you're not looking? No? Just me?

Okay then. Anyway, I live on the Raven Park sim, a glorious place, and we have a dance every couple of weeks. There is usually a theme that requires costuming of one sort or another, and on occasion, I just FAIL to find something that works and wind up making it myself. One such event occurred recently and the end result is my new release (yes I know, you were wondering when I would get to the point, well, here it is).  Out now both in-world (clickable links to the SLURLS just up there, look, on the right) and on Marketplace, the BACH DRESS has arrived.

The Bach Dress is designed for those times you want to feel just a bit elegant, without any fuss. It has just enough flesh on show to make you feel sexy, but this dress is unquestionably classy and elegant. Simple enough to go anywhere and friendly for most footwear.

Please do stop by and say hello to the kitties, if you keep them distracted they may not, after all, destroy my fabrics cupboard!

Onto the dresses!

Prints inspired by rich cultural history, you will find damask, celtic and hints of jacobean in this set.

Prints inspired by flowers and trees, in gently muted tones. Nothing loud or brash here.

We all need a little bit of sparkle sometimes, and this is it. Subtle, classy, understated with just enough pizzazz to make you feel special.
So that's that for now. LOTS of exciting stuff coming up in the frighteningly near future, including the 5th (FIFTH!!!) Femdom Hunt - which of course Evelock is delighted to be a part of again. After all that frantic activity I think I will just go and sit by the pond for a while and relax while I watch the dragonflies gad about.

I hope all your lives are treating you well,

Bright Blessings,

Eve :)

I Aten't Dead Yet!

With apologies to Granny Weatherwax, I am delighted to announce that after a bit of a quiet spell, things are moving again on the Evelock front. How about a BRAND NEW STORE, with 3 floors? How about a NEW PRODUCT too? I am happy indeed to bring you both of those.

First, let's look at the new store:

Pretty nifty, eh? I have to confess I'm very excited about it. Some poor souls had to endure my snarls of frustration while I got to grips with the monster that is mesh, and especially the Physics aspect of that; but, with help (especially from Antony) I cracked it and made my own shop!  Built over three floors, it is larger, easier to cam around and move about in, with room for more products. And I added another Lucky Board, to give you a 33% better chance of your letter coming up. So, I guess I had better get busy then.

Three floors can get confusing in a store, so to help out, there is a handy sign just inside the door to show you where to find things. I also avoided that whole first floor confusion that exists, aren't I clever? (Just please don't ask what I'll do when I have four floors!) :

So, the new product. This was previously only available as a 25 for 25 special, which has now sold out, so can be let loose as a main release. The Splash Pool Float is just that... a float for lazing around on in your pool or pond.  Colourchange and loaded with 4 menus, you should be able to find your bliss fairly quickly:

I think that's all for now. Please do stop in and have a peek at the new store and let me know what you think. You can get your hands on the Pool Float on marketplace, or in-world in any of the usual places.

I hope your lives are treating you well, Bright Blessings

SPLASH! New Special Offer in-store now!

So, there was a special offer that I put together for The Femdom Hunt IV, but it RAN OUT!

The Sol Sunlounger is no longer available as a L$25 Linden special offer, but IS now available in my
mainstore as a regular product, and will soon be on marketplace too.  For L$200, you get:

But fear not, I have a NEW SPECIAL OFFER for you.  Again, only 25 of these at the special price of L$25. After a hard day's hunting, what better way to relax than to drift around on a pool float, either alone, with a friend, or with your sweetie.  Heaps of animations, and an owner-only colourchange menu too. Only 2 prims... what are you waiting for? Oh, you want a photo? Okay:

Look for possibly the smallest and silliest indoor pool in SL ever. The special offer box is perched
on the opposite corner to the water-walking quantum physics mistress, Felitia :) As with all the stuff
out in my store, feel free to try it out. Hope to see you soon:

I hope all your lives are treating you well. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Bright Blessings

The Femdom Hunt IV Starts in 3 DAYS!!!

It's getting to be a bit exciting around the Studio this week. Final preparations for the Femdom Hunt IV are well underway, and I seem to be a bit involved with more than a few aspects of it.  Why? Well, to put it simply, I happen to think that the femdom community in SL is rather wonderful, and I like to support things that give me joy.  So, obviously, I have made gifts that you are MORE than welcome to grab as part of the hunt; I will be doing my best to help out in the group chat as the hunt progresses, but please don't be asses and, finally, I have the very great honour of DJing the opening night party at Z&A Productions!!

So, gifts already, right? Here are the pics:

1. Evelock's Main Gift, to be found at The Studio:

2. Evelock's Secondary Gift, to be found at The Studio:

3. Bouddicea Femdom's Gift, to be found at the Bouddicea Femdom:

So it's all just a bit exciting. I have been privvy to a few of the other gifts made for the hunt, and I can tell you they are absolutely, completely and utterly worth having.  I very much look forward to seeing and talking with you all over the next couple of weeks!

Bright Blessings

Well Then... Better Get something done, huh?

So, a while back it became horribly apparent that the Femdom Hunt IV (yes, FOUR) was imminent again, and that got me thinking. Mostly thinking it had been far too long since I released anything new. So I set about fixing that.  And while I was at it, I figured a hunt gift might be good, and perhaps a special offer.

Busy, busy, busy... BUT, the hunt gifts (yeah, more than one) and no fewer than 8 new products are now available, AND a special offer.  Where to start?

Collars.  Let's start with collars.  This new one is unashamedly inspired by the fabulous Celtic torcs of ancient times, which means I get to play with my favourite knotwork textures again. Called Strength, this is a uncompromising design, not for the faint-hearted. If you don't got attitude this will probably not work for you.  Here is a peek at the Weaver pattern (Tribal and Celtic Swan are also available):

Discerning dommes like to show who they're attached to, well, I do and I do consider myself to be discerning... comments on a postcard if you must!  So, of course, there has to be a matching Leash Holder for the new collar. Again, have a little peek at the Weaver design:

After all that work I needed to sit down, badly. So, I made an Ottoman and a matching Stool that would look right at home in any Gallery, so that is what I called them. Texture change with 6 options for cushions and base; low prim and contemporary styling should make these pieces fit just about any place you like:

And finally, the special offer. It's nearly Hallowe'en, so what makes more sense than a Sunlounger and Parasol to match? 25 of the Sol Set are available for a mere L$25, only at the main Studio location in-world. Once they're gone, they're gone:

So, that should be enough for now I reckon? I do hope you drop in sometime soon to have a  nosey and try out the furniture. Usual story, you can buy either in-world (points right to the locations links) or on marketplace (just hit "newest first" to see the new things). Hope all your lives are treating you very well,

Bright Blessings

Eve :)
